Senior Litigation Counsel, US

Global publicly listed fintech

Location: New York, NY - must currently live within commutable distance

The Role

Our client is a global, publicly listed fintech, licensed as a bank in Europe and serving tens of millions of US and international consumers. The business is scaling fast in the US, and its legal and regulatory function is growing in step taking on a broader, more strategic role as the company works closely with regulators and manages risk through this next phase.

We're hiring a Senior Litigation Counsel to own government investigations, regulatory matters and litigation risk. Expect a genuine mix of strategy and hands-on graft: deep fact-finding, instructing outside counsel, and drafting sharp, well-evidenced responses to regulators and government bodies — with plenty of new territory to get into as the business grows.

What the Role Involves

• Driving strategy on investigations and regulatory matters

• Getting into the detail — thorough fact-gathering and document review
\n
• Instructing and managing outside counsel
\n
• Drafting clear, well-substantiated responses to regulators
\n
• Building close, credible working relationships with government and regulatory bodies
\n
• Operating independently within a matrix organization
\n
• Balancing strategic input with practical, hands-on delivery
\n

Background We're Looking For

\n
• Currently a senior US litigator with real experience in government investigations and regulatory work
\n
• Trained at a top law firm, now with solid in-house experience
\n
• Used to working independently in a matrix environment
\n
• Pragmatic and transactional a doer, not just an advisor
\n
• Experience in a smaller, leaner legal team (e.g. a smaller bank or fintech ) is a real plus
\n
• Consumer-facing litigation experience is highly valued
\n
• Also open to candidates from a regulator or a consumer-facing financial business
\n

Curious and detail-driven, collaborative and humble, comfortable with accountability, and equally happy working solo or as part of a team. A growth mindset matters this role spans a wide range of areas and will keep evolving.
